
In order to succeed in our challenges and take all trophies, Atlantic Glider and her crew will have to cross the Atlantic 4 times, travelling a total of 15,700 nautical miles.
- Legs 1, 2, & 3 Plymouth to Brest, Brest to Lisbon, Lisbon to Gibraltar and arriving at the challenge start location, which will prepare the crew and vessel for the high-speed Transatlantic passages to come.
- Legs 4, 5, & 6 For the Columbus Trophy, Virgin Atlantic Trophy and the priceless Hales Trophy: Cadiz to Miami , Miami to NYC, NYC to UK totalling a gruelling 7500 nautical miles.
- Leg 7 For the prestigious ‘Blue Riband’ accolade held since July 1952 by the SS United States .This route is set against 3000 nautical miles of punishing north Atlantic currents, winds and waves from the UK to USA in 2 days.
- Legs 8, 9, & 10 are for the victory return voyage which will be at a more relaxed and enjoyable pace, from NYC, to Bermuda, to the Azores, and finally homeward to Plymouth for a huge party and official celebrations!
